Just in case you missed the boat (which is certainly not the case if you read my blog).....
COUPONING is the new BLACK
TLC has a new show, "Extreme Couponing" that airs on Wednesday nights.
My Mom tries desperately to "get one over on me". She is constantly letting me know deals and always asks "Did you know that?" My answer is usually yes, but I didn't know about this one. She not only gets the designated amount of "points" for this notification, but they are doubled. We were out and about and my slingbox wouldn't record this - she recorded it for me.
Clip your $2 Olay coupon from the 12/26 P&G and go to Dollar General to score some free Olay body wash. It's the smaller bottle, 8.4 ozs, but not too shabby for free!!! It was marked as $3 on the shelf, but is on sale for $2.
My daughter got her permit today and she GLADLY drove hubby and I around town for a few errands. I read on the Its' Hip to Save blog , Link: Hip2Save about some great makeup clearance deals at Wags this week.
Covergirl blush: $1.89
Covergirl lipstick: $1.89
PLUS, Covergirl is BOGO 50%
Use the $2.50/2 coupon from the 12/26 P&G
OR $2/2 or $1 coupon from the 11/28 P&G
Also, Chex Mix is on sale for .99, use the .50 printable, Link: Chex
If you purchase 5 or more, get $3.50 RRs
Be careful, the blush was $1.89 at the Wags beside Baptist Hospital, but $3.69 at the Reynolda Road store. Prices might vary by location.
Also, I accidently got a lipstick that was not on clearance, so make sure you match the numbers on the clearance sticker with the numbers on the product barcode.
BOLO (be on the lookout) for clearanced HBA items. January is usually the time to find makeup, lotion and shampoo/conditioner on clearance, but it seems to be earlier this year. I don't clip a coupon unless I am "doing a deal", but this is the time of year that I clip most of my HBA coupons just in case I run across a clearance item. I found some great items yesterday at Rite Aid on clearance. Some were Clearasil items..... with the in-ad coupon AND my coupon, they were free!!! Also, they had Nivea and Keri lotion and Olay facial lotions/cleaners on clearance. Cover Girl items were also on clearance. The 11/28 P&G has $1 and $2/2 coupons making them really inexpensive!!

Be forewarned. The second coupon will probably beep. It will need to be reduced down to $1.99. I usually don't argue with a cashier (I feel that they are only protecting their job), but with this "new" coupon policy, they may not be aware. You might want to print it out and take it with you. It specifically states that they will accept two coupons on BOGO items AND that they will adjust the coupon down.
Let me set the scene for it.
You could be at home, sitting in the recliner, drinking hot chocolate and catching up on your soaps, but no.....your coupon conscious mind made you get in the car and actually "do" your deals - you know, the ones that you wrote down in your handy dandy notebook (can I tell you how many times I have written my deals down, pulled the coupons and DIDN'T do the deal!!! ARGH!!!) You have made it to the store, spent too much time shopping and got to the register only to hit a snag. You have three choices at this point. Give in and purchase the items without the coupons (which I DO NOT recommend), walk away and leave everything there (which I have done before) or F I G H T.
Normally, I do not argue with cashiers. I feel that they are only "saving" their behinds from getting chewed out and/or loosing their jobs when they tell me that I cannot use a coupon. However, there are times that I will argue up and down, especially when I KNOW that I am right, and well within their coupon policy....there's something about listening to Miranda Lambert in the car on the way to the store that will motivate you to stand up for what you know is right - even if it's only a coupon!!! Plus, you will have a good story to tell your coupon friends - trust me when I say that your family won't appreciate it - so don't waste your breath!
All of this, only to re-direct to you to another blog. But wait - it's totally worth it. Melanie, from The Coupon Goddess blog, had an interesting experience and blogged about it. She's actually the reason that I started this blog. She is my inspiration and I aspire to write more like her......but until that happens, visit her at http://www.thecoupongoddess.com/ . I can guarantee you will loose time there. The first time I visited it, I couldn't stop reading!!
This would be a great week to stock up on some of the necessities for the holiday meals at home. We are so busy this time of year making sure that all of the presents are purchased and wrapped, that we sometimes forget that we need food AT HOME. I can remember in years past, getting home on Christmas Eve night from visiting family from out of town and realizing that I don't have a "plan" for Christmas Lunch/Dinner. I always managed to pull it off, but this year, a spiral sliced ham will be waiting for me to plate it up - nice and simple and EASY!!! There are also some great muffin/coffee cake mix on sale that would really come in handy for Christmas breakfast....once again, EASY!!!

It seems these days that the new "black" in the money saving world are websites that sell discounted deals/gift certificates.
Restaurant.com has been around for a while, but there are several new websites....
I have mentioned Groupon to you before in this post: Groupon.
I purchased gift certificates to Ben and Jerry's, Nobles, Ryan's and Cafe Press (for a photo on canvas) and have been very happy.
Also, there is a housewares site that has various deals: Housewares
There is a new one that my friend Sue forwarded me via email today. It is called "Living Social", Link: LS
It appears to be very similiar to Groupon. I copied the blurb below directly from their website:
How It Works
When you see a deal that tickles your fancy, here's what to do:
BUY. Get in on the deal of the day
SHARE. If 3 of your friends buy the same deal using your link, you get your deal for FREE
WAIT. Your deal will be ready to print within 1 business day
PRINT. Follow the instructions on your deal to redeem it
SAVE. Enjoy your favorite spots around town at huge discounts
Today's deal for Living Social is fresh local produce. You pay $10 and get $24 worth of produce. There is a one-time fee of $5, but if you "Like" them on Facebook, you will get an additional $1 off this deal. They deliver directly to your door. Check them out by following this link: LS
