Update: Issues with Internet Printable Coupons at Food Lion on Reynolda Road

Updates for Monday, 1/31 in PURPLE
Updates for Sunday, 1/30 in ORANGE
Updates for Tuesday, 2/1 in BLUE
Update for Tuesday afternoon in GREEN
Update for Wednesday in RED
FL's coupon policy is FINALLY on their webpage, Link: FL (bottom on the page)

I spoke with customer service this morning and they took my information. I told them the trouble that I had on Sunday and he was going to contact the store manager and upper management.  I also told him that the coupon policy was not on the website over the weekend, but I had it now.  He told me that if I went there and had any more trouble, to call customer service while in the store.

I visited the Reynolda store for myself Sunday - mid morning and the manager checked me out. He would only accept one of my coupons.  I told him that the coupon policy was to accept 10 of the same coupons and asked him if he had a copy of the policy - he did not.  He called another store and they told him that he could accept 10.  He questioned them - twice.  He told me that he would accept 10, but he would probably get in trouble.  I told him that I did not want that, thanked him and walked toward the door.  He told me to come back - twice. I paid and left with my 10 boxes of pasta. As in this location's fashion, another cashier was ringing out customer in another lane and was constantly looking back at me and shaking her head.

I visited the Murray/Shattalon store last night and the asst. mgr did not want to take my coupons.  I had a very nice conversation with him (I am not being sarcastic) about the origin of these coupons, their coupon policy and he provided me with information regarding coupon fraud in their particular store.  I was EXTREMELY impressed with his customer service skills in our conversation.  I walked out of the store with my 10 boxes of pasta AND purchased two hams that were on sale for $10 ea.  I am not gloating and do not feel that I "won", but he did not want to loose my business.

Local mgmt is having a conference call today regarding these coupons and the acceptance in the local stores.  I will update this post when I find out the results.  I feel like I have a part-time job at Food Lion these days.  I have been in the stores and talking with customer service alot recently. Hopefully we will get this ironed out soon.

The sale doesn't end until 2/15, so hopefully they will resolve this, since we have another two weeks of  the sale.

Update regarding the conference call.  The Shattalon/Murray road says that they will accept these coupons.  I have not confirmed with the Reynolda Road location BUT, someone posted on afullcup.com (this is where I get a lot of my information/deals) that corporate has deemed these coupons as valid and will accept them. Please leave a comment if you have any more trouble.

And the saga continues. It seems like the FLs that WERE taking them are NOT now (North Point and Hawthorne Road locations) and the one that was NOT is (Shattalon/Murray Road). I will call corporate AGAIN in the morning.  I really need to send them an invoice for my consulting services!)

The district manager called me and was very apologetic.  She offered some explanations that made perfect sense (based upon the managers getting burned previously with fraudulent coupons AND their concern for stock on the shelf).  I stressed to her that a group of us were purchasing these for our church's food pantry and that I was asking non-couponers to purchase items using coupons. I told her how terrible they felt when they were accused of using fraudulent coupons. She is helping the food pantry get the stock that we need.

For those of you who are still getting told that you cannot use these coupons, I suggest that you either switch stores or call corporate.

Good Luck Everyone!!!
I have heard from several of you that are having trouble using the Mueller's pastas internet printable at the Reynolda Road location (they are on sale for $1 this week and there is a $1 printable that is a pdf.)  Not only are you getting the "I wonder if these are legit" looks, but they are also limiting you to 3 items, instead of 10, which their coupon policy clearly states; unfortunately, their own employees and customer service managers do not know their own policy.

This is a perfect example of why you should have the coupon policy printed out and with you at all times.  They have the policy on their website under FAQ at the bottom of the main page.  There is not excuse for not having this.......oh, but wait.....how you click "here" for the coupon policy where there is no button or link to click....aka....it's NOT on the webpage.  I have googled "Food Lion Coupon Policy" and have gotten a lot of hits on blogs that have the link, but when I click on the link I get the "page not displayed".  Apparently the links are old/FL has pulled the policy.

This is really hurting our church's food pantry.  This is the closest location to our church and a lot of my "followers" visit that location.

I have called the customer service line, but they are closed after noon on Saturday and do not open until 8:00 a.m. on Monday.  I will call then, and rest assured that this will resolved Monday morning.

I will update this post when I get an answer to this.

Grocery Store deals for the week of 1/19- 1/25/11 Lowes Foods UPDATE

See the update regarding Lowes Foods below in ORANGE.

A couple of comments about this week.

I really need whole chickens.  I am totally out - I know, say it isn't so.....I cook, debone and freeze them for a quick chicken casserole or chicken quesadillas or chicken stew or chicken and rice....I could go on and on.  Last week got away from me and I didn't make it to Food Lion until Tuesday night, the last night of the sale.  I stopped on the way home and they were out (got a raincheck) and send DH out after dinner and that location was out as well (he got a raincheck). Moral of the story - don't wait until the last night to shop.....unless you want a raincheck.  I must really be living right - HT has whole chickens this week so I win!!!  Yipee!!!

One more thing....I went to HT on Tuesday night to do the handful of final deals before the new sale started on Wednesday and made the rounds, making sure I spoke to all of my HT friends before I left the store.  I borrowed a couple of CDs from one of them.

I was leaving for work the next day and wanted to make sure I had the CDs, so I asked my husband if he knew where they were. They were on the corner of the table, right where I could find them.  As he was walking me to the car, he said the funniest thing (which he often does).   "Missy, you know that HT is your Cheers....where everybody knows your name."  Yea, I know......

I heard back from corporate this morning and they are looking into it.  "The prices are set according to districts the stores are located in. The prices we charge our customers are determined by the cost of the product to us from our distributors." Blah Blah, Blah Blah.
I went to the Reynola Manor LF. I was able to get a copy of the ad (the other location was out) and they were the lower price at $1.33 ea. It's only a price difference of .17 ea, and it's not worth going back and returning the first batch that I got, but it's the principle of the matter. FRESH Seafood from Brandon at Atlantic Coast Seafood

Let me start this post off by telling you about a small portion of my childhood.   Seafood.  Both of my parents and their parents and probably their parents grew up on the coast.  If you don't like seafood and are in my family, people wonder which delivery man is your father.....not really.....but maybe!

Family from both Mom and Dad's side harvested from the ocean.  Shrimp, fish, clams, mussels, crab, lobster.....dare I go on? If the shrimp was not longer than fingertip to palm, my Grandfather would say "They ain't no count, not big enough to mess with".  We looked at him like he was crazy.  15 of those bad boys would make up a pound!

Growing up, we had seafood all of the time.  At home, at Grandma's house - everywhere!  As a kid, it was nothing special, but since we lived two and a half hours away and as I progressed in my teenage years, the trips were less frequent and I could understand my parents' longing for it.

Fast forward to modern day.  I have one Grandmother left and she's not taking the shrimping boat out any time soon, so we rely on uncles and cousins and when they don't "harvest", we purchase. Spending money on FRESH seafood is not an issue at all with all of the money we save in couponing. Which brings us to the point of this post.  Fresh seafood delivered.  Yes, delivered....maybe not directly to your doorstep, but not far away.

It all started with one of my co-workers/friends RAVING every Monday about the seafood that her and her hubby had over the weekend.  Most people start Monday morning conversations with..."How was your weekend?"  MY co-worker/friend starts by saying "We had the most amazing ____________ (insert seafood here) this weekend.  We got it from our seafood guy, Brandon.  Hummmm.  I wanted to join this party!

Brandon has a weekly list that he emails out. He takes orders and drives to Edisto Island, SC and picks up the seafood.  The deadline to order is Thursday at 5:00 p.m.  I ordered a WHOLE flounder, one pound of lump crab meat and a bag of mussels.

Throw in a batch of frozen shrimp from Uncle Charles and you've got a fantastic meal.

This is the way that the family freezes shrimp.  The head them, put them in the quart/half gallon paper milk cartons, fill with cold water and freeze them.  They stay VERY fresh this way. Can you tell my Aunt is a retired nurse?  She used surgical tape to seal it.

For the flounder, I salted and baked it for about 40 minutes....head and tail intact.

A little of this, a little of that for the crab cakes.  Add cayenne pepper for a little kick.

Mom's biscuits that were left over from New Years (that I froze) were perfect to toast, crumble and make shrimp stuffing.

Once again, a little of this, a little of that. I used the smaller shrimp for this dish.

Next on the lineup is mussels.  These were super easy.   A little Marsala wine, brought to a boil and steamed for about 8 minutes with the lid on.....PERFECT! My new Le Creuset pan really made it easy.

So here's the final look at dinner.....Baked Flounder, Crab Cakes, Steamed Mussels, Sauteed Shrimp, Shrimp Stuffing and Brown Rice.

Our 3 year old guest was exceptionally excited about the fish.  She liked eating it, but more importantly, liked looking at it.  The 8 month old also enjoyed the fish.....ummming after every bite.

Grocery Store deals for the week of 1/12 - 1/18/11

I can't imagine that we will need much this week after the fantastic deals that were to be had at Harris Teeter, but just in case....here goes!

Red Delicious Apples, .99/lb

T-Bone or Porterhouse Steaks Value Pack, $4.98/lb
Holly Farms whole fryers, .57/lb.
I usually get several when they are this price, boil them, debone and bag them up and freeze them.  I am getting VERY low, so that comes at a great time!!!

A quick refresher on how HT calculates the BOGO, Buy 1 get 2 Free and the Buy 2 get 3 Free:
BOGO = item rings up half price
Buy 1 get 2 Free: items ring up 1/3 price
Buy 2 get 3 Free: The first two items ring up full price, then the next three items ring up at $0.00.

E-VIC:
Capri Sun 10 pack $1.77, limit 1
Also, this is included in the "Give Us a Try" Specials (Limit one free offer per transaction)

Here we go again. General Mills is have their Buy 20, save $6 instantly.  I have a love/hate relationship with this promo.  The items are soooo very specific and if you get one item wrong - even a particular flavor, you don't get your $6.  BUT - when it works like it should, you can get a great price!!!

Save $6 instantly wyb any 20 participating GM Products using your VIC card. Offer redeemed instantly at checkout. Products must be purchased in a single shopping trip at HT. Valid 1/12-1/18/11. Limit one reward per transaction.
