Drug Store Deals for the week of 6/27/10 - Updated

Updates below in BLUE

Warm Delights .88
.75 coupon from the 6/27 coupons inserts (not confirmed)
= .13

There are times where you need to "up" your total by just a little bit, so that you can use your Extra Care bucks.  Here's a great filler:
Starbucks Frappuccino, singles $1.50, use the $1 printable, Link: Starbucks
= .50

I kicked some major butt at Rite Aid on Sunday morning.  I won't go into the nitty gritty, but most of the deals that I did are below.

My total before coupons: $96.03
Wellness Savings: $14.36
Coupons: $79.00
Grand Total: $2.67

Have you done the Video Values? Don't forget about those.  If you can spend about 40 minutes and view enough to get 20 points, you can print out a $5/20 coupon (when you print these, go ahead and print multiples - it won't let you print them again). EVERY transaction I do at Rite Aid is at least $20 before coupons.....I get a lot of stuff for free with assistance from the $5/20 coupon. Visit Rite Aid.com and click on Video Values - they walk you through the process.
Warning - If you did not do the Video Values for the month of June, some of the following deals may tnot be as sweet for you. The July Video Values start 6/27 and you cannot go back and view June's videos.

I rocked the UP rewards last week with the Motrin and I have several to use.  I think I am going to use them on the John Frieda deal.

Starting 6/27/10, John Frieda Hair Care products are 4/$20, with a $10 UP Reward that will print out. Deduct the UP reward and it makes them 4/$10.  You know that's WAYYY to much, but combine the coupons and it bring your out of pocket way down......use the $2.50 printable, Link: JF.....print two (hit the back button).  OR, use the $2 coupon from the 6/6 Smart Source OR use the $3 coupon from the 6/6 Smart Source
= around $1 after UP rewards

Here's how it will work:
4 John Freida = $20.00
$5/$20 coupon = - $5.00
$2.50 coupon x 2 = - $5.00
$2.00 coupon x 2 = - $4.00
Subtotal: $6 plus tax
I will use 2 of my $3 UP rewards from the Motrin = - $3.00
Pay tax and get $10 in UP rewards
Now - what on EARTH am I going to get that costs $10 at RA?  My total is never that high. (My friend Anita and I were talking about that the other day).  I feel a splurge coming on!!!

Clearasil Skin Care in $3 in ad coupon, they start at $5.49.
Use the $1 coupon from the 5/9 Smart Source AND the $3 in ad coupon AND the $3 Video Values coupon from June)
= free,  with possible overage
I did this on Sunday and got $1.50 overage on each of the $5.49 items.  Buy several, combine that with the $5/$20 Video Value coupon and you can get major overage.  I used this overage to pay for my John Freida and a couple of Starbucks Fraps (splurge).

Aveeno Baby care is Buy 1 get 1 50% off. (I sure hope the regular lotion is this same deal, but can't confirm yet). There is a $2 in ad coupon for Aveeno.  Also, use the $1.50 off Aveeno Suncare from the 5/16 Red Plum. I did not do a price check while I was in there, but thee baby items are the only Aveeno items that seem to be on sale.  I didn't see any tags up for the regular lotion.

We may have another chance to use our Pampers Wipes coupons.  They are Buy one get one 50% off.....not sure of the price, but something to check out!!

Coppertone: $8.99.  There is a $2 in ad coupon and $3 Video Value coupon (from June) and we are supposedly getting a $4 coupon in 6/27's inserts
= possibly free sunscreen!!!
Plus, enter your receipts and submit for a $25 skincare rebate when you purchase $50 or more in qualifying items.  See rebate #555.  In addition, when you use your RA rewards card, you also get an additional $5 rebate card.

Veet is around $6.50 and there is a $3 in ad coupon...also use the $3 Video Value Coupon (from June) AND the $3 printable, Link: Veet
= $2.5 MONEYMAKER
Did this deal - worked like a charm
M&M Mars Single Serve Candy – BOGO
Use BOGO M&M’s coupon from 6/27 Red Plum
= 2 FREE

Stayfree Maxi Pads – BOGO
Use the  BOGO coupon from 6/27 Red Plum
PLUS the $1 Video Values coupon
= $1 MONEYMAKER

Blistex Lip Balm Smoothies 3 pack $2.99 get  $3 Register Rewards

Airplus Aloe Infused Socks for Her $3.00 get $3 Register Rewards - Ask your store if these are printing Register Rewards.  I tried this Sunday morning and they were not.  Mgmt at Wags said that there is a fix in the system, but it won't be in effect until Monday. UPDATE: The RRs are printing as of 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

Flexitol Blistop, $5.00 get $5 Register Rewards

Add a filler and you call roll the first two and pay for only tax plus the cost of the filler.

Good Fillers:
Arizona Teas 2/1.00 with in ad coupon
Royal Jello 5/1.00 with in ad coupon

First Super Doubles Run, Wednesday, 6/23/10

I did a quick run last night.  Thanks goes to Rachel (my daughter) for going with me, helping me and NOT complaining one little bit - even as I stop to chat with my coupon friends/favorite cashiers.

I did two transactions, but only had two items on the second transaction.

First Transaction:
3 Reynolds Foil
4 Kraft Dressings
3 Hershey candy bars (large)
3 Ken's Dressing
2 Muir Glen Tomato Paste
1 J&J baby powder
2 Philly Cream Cheese
1 Buitoni Alfredo Sauce
1 Yoplait Parfait (love these things!!)
Total: $47.69
VIC savings: 7.89
Coupons: 35.55
Grand Total: $4.25
Savings of 91%
I also got a $3 off your next order catalina from getting the Kraft dressing, but I am not counting this against my total as I will use it to get a REALLY low total later this week.

2nd Transaction:
3 Uncle Ben's Rice
Total: $5.33
Total: $3.83
VIC savings: .75
Coupons: $3
Grand Total: .08 (tax)
Savings of 98%

The deals are very similiar as last time, but add yogurt. The Kraft dressing catalina is still going on, so I will be rolling that until I run out of coupons.  Salad Dressing anyone?

As usual, everyone at the Robinhood Village store was exceptional.  Very helpful and courteous.  My BFF white shirt from another store "escorted" me while I shopped, helping me look for items that was new and I had a coupon for. Between his help AND Rachel's help, I really felt like a Coupon Queen!!

HA - Gotcha!!! Didn't go this morning - yes, I am feeling fine and not under the weather.

I have to be at work earlier during the summer - we work summer hours, 10 hours Monday - Thursday with Friday off.  I love working these hours, but it throws a kink into Super Doubles. My work environment is very flexible but I don't want to skip lunch for the ENTIRE week to make up the time.....

There was nothing that I could not live without first thing this morning.  I will go this evening and update this post.

Good Luck to everyone!!  Post your deals here - I would love to hear what everyone saved!

Super Doubles is an event that Harris Teeter has periodically. Harris Teeter ALWAYS doubles coupons up to .99, but during Super Doubles, the coupons double up to $1.98. That means that your $1.50 coupon is worth $3.00. The event will begin at 7:00 a.m. on the first day, Wednesday, June 23 and will go until midnight, Tuesday, June  29.

Harris Teeter will triple up to 20 coupons per card per day. The cards are tracked by address. If you have a 21 coupons and one of your coupons is worth $2 or more, ask the cashier to scan the $2 coupon last, so that your first 20 will triple.

If you have a coupon that says "Do Not Double or Do Not Double or Triple" (DND), if it starts with a 5, it will double automatically. If it starts with a 9, it will not double. The store has a right to pull the DND coupons and hand key them in so that they will not triple. MY store does not do this, that is one of the reasons that I am so loyal to them - and, their customer service is out of this world!!! If I visit another store and this happens to me, I tell the cashier to void the item off (unless the difference is just a few cents).

If you have any rainchecks, this may be a good time to use them if you have a good coupon to use with the item. I tend to wait until later in the week to purchase these items...you probably won't have to worry about the stock being low - not many people remember this trick.

My Strategy:
Organizing your Coupons.....
Since I do not clip any of my coupons, I check my blog and others' blogs to see what the best deals are. I clip/print out the necessary coupons and file them in a small three ring binder in the order of where the items are located in the store. I have make-shift dividers - only about 5-6. That way I am not lugging my large coupon binder around (which wouldn't do any good with barely anything in it!)

I create a list of items that I want to purchase....FIRST on my list are items that I think will be sold out quickly, aka, the free items. I create a spreadsheet with those items, how many I am going to purchase, the coupon value and my total out of pocket, in the order of the store. Have a couple of standbys on your list in case they are out of an item. I fell really disappointed when I don't use ALL 20 of my coupon limit.

With this method, I can do a Super Doubles run in 15 minutes.

I stick with that list for the first few shopping trips, or until I run out of those coupons. Then I start using the other coupons on those items that cost money and/or are a good deal.

Ordering Coupons.....

I order my coupons from Your Coupon Cafe, yourcouponcafe.com. She is local, ships the same day and if you are local to Winston Salem/Greensboro, you will get the coupons in one day. The downfall is she gets the coupons that we get, but since I have started ordering from her, I have not placed an order with any other service - aka, I have not found the need.

If there is an item that you are interested in, but don't have a coupon, you can do a search on afullcup.com under coupons. They will tell you if there is a coupon for the item and it's origin. There are other coupon services available (google coupon clipping service), but it can take anywhere from 2+ days to receive them. Also, you could order off Ebay. The saving grace about this is that the stock in the stores for those particular items should be good, since our area did not receive the coupons.

When checking out, know your total before you get to the register. Count your coupons. If your total is higher than you anticipated, ask the cashier to count the coupons on the screen to make sure two coupons did not get stuck together. Also, make sure you GIVE the cashier all of your coupons. When I shop from my list, as I am shopping, I do not pull the coupons. I find that I am dropping them a lot and struggling while holding my list and pen and pulling the items from the shelf. I find a place in the store that is not busy (my store has a display with 12 pack sodas, near the magazines that always seem to be stacked at the right height.) I glance through the cart and pull the coupons, looking at my list as well. I count and double count to make sure I don't have more than 20.

Also, a very important note. I shop with people a lot. We get one cart and put a basket inside the cart for the two different orders. Make sure that you put the correct item in the correct place. During last Triples, DH and I did a transaction each and I had an item of his - my total was WAYYY off. The wonderful cashier helped me realize this and we were on our merry way. STAY FOCUSED!!! (sometimes easier said than done).

One final note...don't hog the isles - stay to the side. The non-couponers have very little tolerance for us couponers and it's just good etiquette with other couponers.

One final final note...be nice to the cashiers - they work very hard and have been standing on their feet all day.

Please let me know if you want to do a shopping trip with me - I would be happy to take you!!

Groupon

Has anyone ever heard of this?  I made my first purchase today.

Each day you get an email highlighting a deal.  If enough people sign up for this deal, then the deal becomes available.  The deal is usually at least 50% off or more.  The services vary from photography, wine tours/tasting to restaurants.  It is in the larger cities.  I am signed up for Cary, Charlotte and Greensboro.

Today's deal is Nobles Grill in Winston Salem.  I love this place but it is quite pricey. The deal is a $60 certificate for $30.  That's fantastic!!! Half price at such a wonderful restaurant?  WOW!!!

There is no fee to use this service. When I signed up for the Nobles certificate, I gave them my credit card information.  Once enough people signed up for the deal, my credit card was charged.  I have until 12/31/10 to use this certificate.

There are a couple of rules - follow this link for the fine print Groupon

Enjoy!!!

Coupon Inserts for Sunday, June 20, 2010

Smokin' Hot Deals at Food Lion

Free Cheese.....can life get ANY better?!?!?!

There are several FLIPs out that makes going to Food Lion a MUST this week.

$2 off FL block cheese. At the Winston Salem stores this cheese is $2. Link: FL Cheese This FLIP expires 6/29
= FREE

$1 off FL eggs.  The medium size eggs are around $1.12, Link: FL Eggs, this FLIP expires 6/22
= .12

$1 off FL pasta.  This varies in price from .79+.  The FL elbow macaroni is only .79, Link: FL Pasta, this FLIP expires 6/29
= .21 overage

While you're there, don't forget about the Hunt's deal I mentioned last week:
The small cans of Hunt's Tomato Sauce is .52. There is a $1.50/2 printable manufacturer's coupon (pdf), Link: Hunt's, this FLIP expires 6/30

Purchase three = .09

Remember the rules......You can only use one like FLIP per transaction.  You could use one cheese, one pasta, one egg FLIP per transaction, not 2 cheese, 2 pasta, etc.  It is acceptable to do multiple transactions, just ask the cashier first and don't hold the line up behind you.  Also print plenty to share. If you see someone in the store that is purchasing the item that you have a FLIP for, share your coupons with them.  I did this Thursday evening.  There was an older gentleman that was purchasing two items that I had FLIPs for.  I approached him and got a "look".  Once I gave him the coupons, I got a big smile, pat on the shoulder (literally) and a thank you from him. He asked if I worked at the store and I told him no.  But I did share with him that my husband laughs at me for chasing people down at the stores to give them coupons. He got a kick out of that.
